Schwinn’s Airdyne Evolution Exercise Bike

Everyone will have different goals in their exercise program, but depending on what your specific goals are, loose weight,  gain strength, heart health, or flexibility, cardio, strength training and flexibility exercises should all be represented in your program. Cardio exercises will strengthen the heart and lungs, increase endurance and burns calories which help you lose weight. Strength training will strengthen muscles, bones and connecting tissues and by building lean muscle tissue which raises metabolism and reduces body fat as long as you are watching your calorie intake. Stretching will help in flexibility, muscle soreness, agility as we get older and it helps us relax and feel good.

Working all these different areas of exercising into your program will make you a more well rounded and healthy individual. When doing my cardio part of my exercises, working out on my Schwinn Airdyne Evolution Exercise Bike is 60 minutes I look forward to. After my workout I actually feel pumped up as opposed to feeling tired from working out, and that’s a great way to start the day out since I do my cardio workout in the morning.

BodyCraft Xpress Pro Home Gym

I came across a home gym that can be utilized for specific sports  and not just a regular workout. The BodyCraft Xpress Pro Home Gym is very comparable to any commercial gym around. It’ s bench press, which I always check out first is top notch, because with an adjustable starting point it allows you and any other workout partners of different sizes to be very comfortable and secure while performing the bench press and also the incline press. The seat and seat back are also adjustable and the back pad tilts to ensure full support when shoulder presses are being done.

The BodyCraft Xpress Cable Arms is what really sold on this machine because it is separate from the bench station and you get completely natural and biomechanical correct movements , providing a greater natural range of motion that let you do core training and exercises that actually mimic dumbbell training. My favorite is the Sport Specific Exercises, with the adjustable arms you can practice your Golf swing, or Baseball Swing, and even your shot in Hockey. This Home Gym is not for the occasional user, but more for the serious workout and sport enthusiast.

Body-Solid EXM2500S Home Gym

An exercise called The Lat Pulldown is mainly for the back because it works the latissimus dorsi which is on either side of the middle to upper back and is the main target muscle group for this exercise. The secondary muscles worked out are your shoulders and arms.  When doing this exercise, sit straight up on the seat, then grasp the cable bar with a wide overhand grip, knuckels up, you should be able to reach the bar when you stretch up, and if you can’t, adjust the seat accordingly. Making sure your back is straight, you pull the bar down to about chin level or a little lower in a smooth movement while squeezing the shoulder blades together, trying not to force the bar any lower than where the shoulders are naturally collapsed and the forearms are more or less upright.

Do not push the arms forward out of the vertical plane in order to drag the bar lower. Slowly return the bar to full height and repeat the exercise, and if this is done properly it will give you that perfect “V” shape. The Body-Solid EXM 2500S Home Gym is an excellent choice and is highly rated by the consumer magazines and this gym allows you to do this exercise along with many more to give you a complete workout. Having a home gym will definitely expand your capabilties for a more rounded exercise routine, so if you want to get serious about your workouts this would be a wise investment.

Bowflex Extreme 2 SE Home Gym

There are many ways to learn which exercises are good for you, and also how to properly do them. You can read articles, books or watch DVD’s, but there is one other way which I would highly recommend, and that is to seek out a personal trainer for a day. Even if you want to train at home, you can tell the trainer that you want a single lesson to start and then make mental notes or write them down in a notebook.

It is also a good idea to ask the trainer to show you exercises that he may not include in a regular session, thus you can get a good feel on how to set up a good workout program with hands on training, that you can take home with you. From there you can continue to explore other ideas to help you set up a proper program for you, and we will always try to give fresh information on our site so that you can always expand your routine. A Great piece of equipment for home that would meet the needs of beginners to advanced is the Bowflex Xtreme 2 SE Home Gym

Xvest TurboBells Adjustable Dumbbells

There are a few basics in weight training that people are afraid to ask, because they think that they should already know them. Just knowing what a few terms mean will help in basic weight training, such as  “rep”, which is one lift of a weight or a completion of an exercise movement. A “set or “set of reps” is a series of repetitions, an example would be doing 3 sets of 10 repetitions of bicep curls.  This often written as 3×10 Bicep Curls.

When beginning a weight training program I would highly suggest using a starting weight of no more than half of the weight that you could lift at the present time, and doing only 1 set of each exercise. The reason being that you want to let you body ease into your program and not put to much strain or have a chance for injury because your muscles are not fully ready for a total workout. Take about a 1-2 minute rest in between each exercise when you first start out, and you can cut this down to no longer than 1 minute once you built your endurance up. Starting out all the basic equipment you will need is a bench and a good set of dumbbells and the Xvest TurboBells Adjustable Dumbbells, which take the place of 26 regular ones are a good choice.

PowerBlock Dumbbells

A good variation of the barbell incline press can be performed with great results using dumbbells. While seated on an incline bench, have a spotter hand you a dumbbell for each arm, then with the dumbbells at the sides of your torso, at chest level, press the dumbbell up in an explosive motion slightly touching each other with your palms facing up. Next slowly bend your arms and lower both dumbbells in a slow, controlled fashion to your chest.

The dumbbells should be at the sides of your chest where you feel a comfortable stretch. Repeat this movement as many time until failure, trying to do at least 8 reps and no more than 12 reps. Having a good set of dumbbells is a must and the PowerBlock Adjustable Dumbbells are a good choice because they are easy to handle and they take the place of many individual dumbbells when you start to progress in weight. Try this variation and I think you will agree that you get even more range of motion than using a barbell on this exercise.

Bowflex SelectTech 552 Dumbbells

If you do not own a home gym but want to do an exercise similar to the Butterflies for your chest, then try doing the Dumbbell Flyes and it will give you the same results.  I like doing this exercise with Bowflex SelectTech 552 Dumbbells. When starting this exercise,  make sure you lying on your back on a flat bench, then have your partner hand you each dumbbell while your arms are stretched out wide to your sides keeping your elbows slightly bent and your palms facing inward, toward each other.

When you lift the dumbbells up together, imagine your arms wrapping around a large tree, like you were hugging it, then at the very peak of the movement, squeeze your pecs together hard for a 1 count. Then upon returning to the start position, be very sure to lower the dumbbells in a slow and controlled movement. You should repeat this action for as many repetitions as you can do until failure. When doing these exercises or any other free weight exercise, it’s always a good idea to have a spotter for safety and to push you to get the most out of your workout.

Boflex Dumbbells

Owning a pair of PowerBlock Dumbbells one of my favorite exercises to use them for is the single arm dumbbell row. If this exercise is done properly it will help you build a thick, strong back. Normally the motion is pretty much an up and down motion pulling the dumbbell up towards you with one arm while the other arm is braced on the bench, but with a slight twist you can increase the effectiveness of the exercise by 50%.

The movement is; once you pick up the dumbbell, row it up to your torso but when you lower the weight back to the starting position, simply twist it inwards. Once you twist the dumbbell for a slight turn, twist it back to the original position and pull upward again. Repeat this movement for the entire set and it will definitely aid in the muscle development of your back.
