Schwinn Airdyne Evolution Exercise Bike

My personal favorite among Upright Exercise Bikes has an updated version and its name is the Schwinn Airdyne Evolution. One thing Schwinn couldn’t improve on is the reliability of the old Airdyne, because as long as I’ve owned mine, (10 years) I have never had a single problem. One of the things they have done is make the fan smaller which produces less noise and if you are trying to watch TV or videos this is very helpful.

They have changed the drive from the pedals to the fan with a belt instead of the old way of using a chain and this has resulted into a smoother and even quieter ride. Still letting you work your arms and legs with resistance from turning a fan and with the faster you pedal the higher resistance for your workout, Schwinn has still kept their basic concepts on a tried and tested exercise bike. Whether you choose the original Airdyne classic version or the slightly smaller and quieter Schwinn Airdyne Evolution model you will be completely satisfied.

Schwinn Airdyne Exercise Bikes

Most of my friends either own or use a Recumbent bike, but my choice for a good workout on Exercise bikes is the Schwinn Airdyne Upright.  With the handle bars and grips, my arms, chest and shoulders along with my lower body because of the patented dual action motion that synchronizes arm and leg motions which simulates your natural motion, allows you to have a total body workout. The harder you pedal the more the wind resistance becomes and at the same time the fan wheel cools you off during your workout.

It doesn’t matter what the weather is, or what time it is, once you are exercising you can keep track of your calories, calories per hour, time, distance, RPM and workload on the easy to read LED console. Listen to your favorite music on your Ipod or catch up on your TV shows in the convenience of your own home. This particular model has a 300 lb weight capacity and I weigh 240 lbs and have felt very secure on it. It is more of an old fashion style bike, but over the years I still consistently use it and that tells me that the Schwinn Airdyne Exercise Bikes hold up through the test of time.

Exercise Bikes

When choosing one of the many Exercise Bikes on the market there are many factors to consider. There are such a wide range in price along with many options to choose from that it is wise to take your time and see what appeals to you along with what you can afford. There are mainly 2 types; the recumbent, which you can lean back in the seat and have your legs out in front of you as you pedal and the upright, which is taller in stature with your legs below you as you pedal.

The upright tends to give you a better workout in your legs where as the recumbent gives you more support for your back. Which ever one you choose you’ll be getting a low impact workout which is very easy on your joints. The key to success is to enjoy what you are doing while you are exercising, pick out some of your favorite music or even watch your favorite T.V. show to make your experience more pleasurable.

Recumbent Exercise Bike

The term recumbent literally means “lying down”, so exercising on Recumbent Exercise Bikes gives you an extremely comfortable workout. I’ve found that that by exercising in the reclining position this particular type of exercise bike is what you need if you have injuries or disabilities, as compared to an upright model. By changing the resistance on the bike you can ease into a workout as a beginner or dial it up for a more challenging workout.

It’s like kicking back in a Lazy Boy Recliner with pedals. There are many models to choose from and a couple of things to look for are; good construction, high quality components, size and price. A model that fits all this criteria is the Schwinn 230 Recumbent Exercise Bike, my personal favorite.

Life Fitness R9i

The Life Fitness R9i Exercise Bike is a top of the line piece of equipment with a lot of history that has proceeded it. Dr. Keene Dimick, Ph.D, a chemist and inventor in 1968 develops the Lifecycle exercise bike, which was the first computerized fitness equipment.

Two young entrepreneurs, Ray Wilson and Augie Nietro saw the promise of Dr. Dimick’s invention and bought the rights to the Lifecycle and turned a two man operation into a company that employs over 1,700 people with 186 dealers and distributors in more than 120 countries. The R9i is a home version of the very popular Life Fitness health club machine and is one of more than 300 different cardio and strength training products that Life Fitness offers.

Recumbent Bike

As a women I found that the Recumbent exercise bikes are be more beneficial to me. The term recumbent means lying down. Not only is the recumbent seating position easier on the back but, the support it gives is also a great benefit. This particular bike has less strain on the arms, neck and shoulders than an upright bike.

This style bike does not take up much space, require little or no balance or coordination and provides an effective workout for all levels of users. Using an exercise bike of this nature makes it easy to stick to a long-term program.
