Boflex Home Gym

When you are starting out on a Bowflex Home Gym, pick out a weight you can do at least 10 reps and no more than 14 reps. Some people say to add more weight on your second set, but my thinking is to keep the same amount of weight and properly complete between 10 and 14 reps again. The third set should be a repeat of the first 2 sets.

The mistake many people make is to try and increase their workload before their muscles become accustomed to the breaking down and rebuilding during a training routine. Find out what weight works for you, because this is how you will make quicker and more meaningful gains. The great thing about using a Bowflex gym is that it is very easy to change weights when more than one person is working out.

Bowflex Home gyms

I’ve found that when I’m starting a workout routine on my Bowflex Home Gym that I choose somewhere between 8 and 10 exercises and include all 8 muscle groups. The 8 muscle groups are: chest, back, shoulders, biceps, triceps, quadriceps, hamstrings and abs. A good rule is to start with your larger muscle group and then go on to the smaller muscle groups.

The reason for this is, most of the demanding exercises are performed by your large muscle groups and you will need your smaller muscles to give you all the support needed to get the most out of your exercises. This doesn’t mean you can’t change the order of your workout routine, because giving yourself a challenge will only enhance the workout. When you are starting out though, it’s better to stay with more of a scripted workout until you feel comfortable with all the exercises.

Perfect Pushup

In any Strength Training workout, proper form is very important and using The Perfect Pushup is no exception. While doing the pushups these are things to keep in mind; your head should be in a neutral position with your ears in-line with the shoulders and spine and your back should be straight, in-line with the neck, hips and legs. Next rotate your hips toward the floor as you contract your abs while pulling your navel towards your spine keeping your legs straight with the knees in-line with your hips.

A correct pace should be 2 seconds, 1 second down and 1 second up. Last but not least, your breathing is very important. Get into a rhythm of inhaling on the way down and exhaling on the way up. I’ve found by counting out loud on the way up, this will help you exhale and keep you in a good rhythm.

Powertec WB-MS Workbench Muilti System

I have found that the Powertec WB-MS Workbench Multi System Home Gym is a terrific system for home fitness. The WB-MS is a leverage gym, which in plain terms means that it has the same feeling and the resistance of free weights, but has the safety and complete control of a machine. It has all stations which includes a professional incline /decline bench, lats, abs, leg lift, arm curl and one of the best squat station on any home gym available.

It gives you the feeling of being at the gym, 3 people can exercise at the same time. It’s constructed on a commercial grade level which will allow for a lot of use and abuse. You will have to invest in quite a few Olympic plates so you can have all the stations ready to use instead of moving plates around and wasting time, but it is an investment well worth it.

Body-Solid Home Gym

When trying to build muscle while working out on a Body-Solid Home Gym, I’ve found out you need to give your muscles more resistance then they are use to. You should always increase your workload to avoid any plateaus while still maintaining proper form.

Always try to lift as much weight so that you can only complete the desired number of reps in your particular set. Once you have mastered a certain weight with 12 reps, add just enough weight so that you will be able to do at least 8 reps with proper form and continue this progression.

Neoprene Dumbbells

I found that with a set of Neoprene Dumbbells and a few minutes a day, I could feel comfortable in my swimsuit. Always start with a warm up session to avoid injury, when working out remember to keep your abs pulled in toward your spine and breath properly.

Using a set of 5-10lbs. dumbbells bend forward at your waist, knees slightly bent, lower back arched with your butt sticking out. Slowly roll up with your head facing forward, chest out and concentrating on your abs, butt, hamstings and calves. Do 2-3 sets of 12 to 14 repetitions, adjust the lbs. to where you last three repetitions are a challenge.

Treadmills

I have found that exercising on a Treadmills are a great way to burn calories and give your heart a robust workout. You have many different choices on treadmill exercises and they include walking, jogging, and running. In terms of burning more calories, running would be first followed by jogging and walking would burn the least.

The reason is that because of the resistance caused by the treadmill, you have to expand more energy each time you put your foot forward and the more energy expanded the more your heart pumps faster and you get a great aerobic workout. If you are looking for a good cardio workout, about 20 minutes would be fine and if you are trying to loose weight then you need at least a 30 minute workout.

Perfect Pushup

When it comes to Strength Training, pushups are still one of the most effective workouts I’ve ever done. After a good pushup workout sometimes my wrist and elbow joints would be burning more then my chest arms and shoulders. The Perfect Pushup with its rotating handles, allows your arms to rotate naturally when you do your pushups.

They help reduce strain on the wrist and elbows and it also helps in stabilizing and strengthening the shoulder joint by engaging the scapular and rotator cuff muscles. Simply put, the comfort and ease of the Perfect Pushup allows you to perform the different exercises effortlessly and obtain maximum results from your workout. Being able to take them with you where ever you go is a great advantage and shows you that good things do indeed come in small packages.

Treadmill

A Treadmill to me is an intense cardio workout system that can be used in a daily workout routine, but where did it originate from? Introduced in 1817 by Sir William Cubit it was used as a method of reforming offenders in prison and was termed treadwheels on which the prisoners walked between 6,600 ft and 17,00 ft during a 10 hour day.

In 1952 Dr. Robert Bruce along with Wayne Quinton while at the University of Washington designed a treadmill to diagnose heart and lung disease. Later in 1968 a report published by Dr. Kenneth Cooper showed the benefits of aerobic exercise and gave the public a medical argument for the commercial development of the home treadmill.
