Sole Treadsmills

If you are looking for a treadmill at a reasonable price, Sole Treadmills have the quality, durability and the warranty that are comparable to many high end brands. Sole is basically a new comer to the treadmill industry and their treadmills are being manufactured by Dyaco, which has 20 plus years in fitness product design and manufacturing experience. Sole pioneered the concept of “In Room Fitness” by placing high end Sole Treadmills in individual guest rooms of some of the nations best hotels including Hilton Hotels.

Sole treadmills belong in the mid price range category ($1,400-$2,500), but their warranty say the belong with the higher priced models, (30 years for the motor and lifetime for the deck and frame). A small complaint is that even though these treadmills are a great value their designs are just basic without frills. After adding up all the quality features, from the motor to the roller and the belts to the steel, the Sole Treadmills are built to last and preform and provide you with a great value for your money.

Ironman Elliptical Trainers

With Some of their newer models, an Ironman Elliptical Trainer is definitely worth considering. One feature that Ironman promotes is “Center Drive Technology” which can be found on the Ironman Achiever and Ironman CDT Elliptical Trainers. What this means is that instead of a large flywheel out in front of you, there are 2 smaller flywheels on either side of you which helps to ensure proper workout posture.

Both models boast a long 21″ stride which helps in duplicating a more natural motion for your body and producing a more efficient workout. On most reviews the Ironman Ellipticals were given 4 and 5 stars and the positives were smoothness of the ellipticals, the center drive technology and the models are more compact. One note about the longer 21″ stride, is that for anyone under 5′4″ the stride could be a little long for a comfortable workout, but Ironman offers other ellipticals with shorter strides and the Ironman 530E is a great choice at an economical price.

Apex Neoprene Dumbbell Set

Going away on vacation I wanted to keep up my conditioning, so being able to take my Apex Neoprene Dumbbell Set was a great benefit. All my aerobic and strength exercises that I do with the different sizes (2lb, 3lb, 5lb) are easily transported in their own carrying case.

Being made out of neoprene they are a very quiet dumbbell to workout with and this is very important when I get up early in the morning in our motel room and don’t want to disturb anyone. They are very easy to grip and are a pleasure to workout with, so instead of wishing I could workout away from home, I am actually keeping up with all my routines thanks to my Apex Neoprene Dumbbell Set.

Recumbent Exercise Bike

The term recumbent literally means “lying down”, so exercising on Recumbent Exercise Bikes gives you an extremely comfortable workout. I’ve found that that by exercising in the reclining position this particular type of exercise bike is what you need if you have injuries or disabilities, as compared to an upright model. By changing the resistance on the bike you can ease into a workout as a beginner or dial it up for a more challenging workout.

It’s like kicking back in a Lazy Boy Recliner with pedals. There are many models to choose from and a couple of things to look for are; good construction, high quality components, size and price. A model that fits all this criteria is the Schwinn 230 Recumbent Exercise Bike, my personal favorite.

Bowflex Treadclimber

With all the aerobic training machines around, the Bowflex Treadclimber offers you a multiple combination workout on just one machine. If you like jogging, it gives you a dual treadle system with rolling platforms that act as a treadmill. Want to have the effect of the climbing of a stairstepper, all you have to do is adjust the pads so they lift up as you walk forward and it will create a smoother motion with less impact then a traditional stairclimber.

The separate feet on the treadclimber are much like an elliptical machine, but the feet are free and not held into a foot pad so the motion feels more natural. I was quite amazed to find out that in 22 separate trials the Bowlex Treadclimber burned up 2 times more calories in 30 minutes then a treadmill and doing this with a very low impact workout. It’s hard to beat the treadclimber when it comes to getting the results you want in the shortest amount of time.

Life Fitness R9i

The Life Fitness R9i Exercise Bike is a top of the line piece of equipment with a lot of history that has proceeded it. Dr. Keene Dimick, Ph.D, a chemist and inventor in 1968 develops the Lifecycle exercise bike, which was the first computerized fitness equipment.

Two young entrepreneurs, Ray Wilson and Augie Nietro saw the promise of Dr. Dimick’s invention and bought the rights to the Lifecycle and turned a two man operation into a company that employs over 1,700 people with 186 dealers and distributors in more than 120 countries. The R9i is a home version of the very popular Life Fitness health club machine and is one of more than 300 different cardio and strength training products that Life Fitness offers.

Elliptical Trainers

There are advantages with an Elliptical Trainer that you can’t get get with other aerobic equipment. You have the choice of a forward or backward motion and that allows you to workout different muscles.

By striding forward you work your hip flexors and your quadriceps and striding backwards you exercise your glutes and hamstrings. I’ve found out that the best way to alternating the forward and backward motion is to perform the forward stride the first half of the workout and the backward stride the second half, giving yourself a complete and diversified aerobic workout.

Body-Solid Home Gyms

Performing the tricep pushdown on a Body-Solid Home Gym is one of my favorite exercises because it gives your arms a very full look. The first thing to remember is to pushdown smoothly and evenly on both sides of the bar. Keeping the elbows close to the body push the handle bar down until the elbows are fully extended, yet without snapping the elbows straight.

Make sure your abdominals are braced and bend the knees just slightly on the pushdown but keep your back straight as you stay as upright as possible. On the return to the starting point, allow the bar to go back to the starting position under control with out clanging the weights, remember this is a arm exercise don’t over use the back and shoulders to complete this exercise.

Elliptical Trainers

I’ve found that using an Elliptical Trainer is an excellent selection if you want a cardiovascular workout to go along with a strength workout. If you have joint problems, the elliptical trainers provide you with a smooth and low impact efficient workout.

They also combine a walking or running motion along with a stair climbing motion which has been said to burn more calories then treadmills or stationary bikes. Another plus is, by using the upper handlebars you get to get an upper body workout to go along with your lower body workout simultaneously and this separates itself from the treadmill which gives you only a lower body workout.

fitness-equipment-treadmill.jpgThe best part about having home exercise equipment is that you have that ability to give yourself a good workout right at your fingertips. Just imagine having that advantage right in your living room. One thing that people with this equipment does is put it right in front of an activity that they already do daily like watching television. Incorporate these two activities and you have maximized your time at home. Multitasking is a awesome way to get your body weight under control, enjoy the activities that you really like and maximize the minutes in your day.
