I have found that when you lift weights with a barbell, if one side of your body is weaker than the other, the stronger side will compensate for the weaker side. If you are right handed, it’s almost certain your right arm is going to be noticeably stronger than your left in any exercise you perform.
You probably would not notice the difference in strength between the right and left side in a workout when you are lifting a barbell, but when you lift two dumbbells of equal weight, you will almost certainly find that your right side can perform 1 or 2 reps more than your left side. Training with a set of Bowflex SelectTech 552 Dumbbells (2009 Model) for body parts which have this sort of imbalance can not only help you even up this imbalance, but also help you to maintain the size and strength you currently have, while you bring the muscles that are lagging up to par.
