If you are into strength training with free weights you have a couple of choices, working out with barbells or with dumbbells. They both can provide you with a terrific workout that takes and breaks down free weight training to it’s basic fundamentals. Training with dumbbells stimulates a large number of muscle fibers and therefore can result in muscle growth at a tremendous rate. With barbells, you’re limited by the movements range of motion by the actual bar, not so with dumbbells, you can actually improve the range of motion with certain movements such as when doing the bench press.
You can create a very inexpensive but complete workout program with a good bench and a good set of dumbbells. A set of dumbbells I would suggest to consider would be the Xvest Turbo Adjustable Dumbbells 5-60 With Stand. They are very well built, easy to change the weight and there is no need to have dumbbells all over because 1 dumbbell takes the place of 13. This from the same company that makes Xvest premium weighted vests. An added bonus is, you get a free stand with the dumbbells which can make your workout an easier and more convenient one.
